We are a church whose worship is joyful and uplifting; whose fellowship opportunities are many and varied and whose outreach is strong and tangible. We are bound together by a Christian faith which gives purpose and direction to our lives.
We're glad you're here because we believe that every person who comes into our fellowship was sent by God himself. We are a widely diverse congregation covering a variety of social and economic groups and include and welcome people of various racial and ethnic backgrounds, lifestyles and family arrangements. We're eager to know you and we're excited to share with you the marvelous ways God is working in our church.
To us, church is more than a place to feel good for an hour on Sunday. It is truly a family, rich in relationships. Growing together, we worship, we serve, we laugh, we cry, we learn and we reach our to the world around us and beyond. We reach out to you as well. Our doors and hearts are open to you.
If you have been thinking, praying, searching and hoping for a place to belong, we hope that you will join us in prayer, fellowship, mission, preaching and teaching as we seek to faithfully learn, love and live after the example of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
In November 1995, Dr. James E. Nimmo III began his tenure as our pastor. This is his fourth position, the most recent being a twenty-one year pastorate in Ohio. A Cincinnati native, Dr. Nimmo graduated from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and received his doctorate from McCormick Seminary. His thesis, "Covenant as a Concept for Congregational Renewal", reflects a commitment to the local church as a dynamic and loving community.

Services
Starting in 1984 our first services were held in Aycock's Funeral Home on Floresta, with Rev. Rod Boaz and Rev. Ray Gamble presiding on alternate Sundays. In January, 1985 Rev. Robert Walker began as Organizing Pastor, after moving to Northport Marina where more room was available. In 1986 we joined with Dutton Church, which had a building but no pastor, while we had a Pastor but no building. The Lord works in marvelous ways.
The Dutton Church building was put up for sale and ground-breaking for a new church building was held in June, 1987 on the corner of Midport Road and US Hwy #1. We finally received a Certificate of Occupancy in October, 1988 and held our first service in the new building in November, 1989.
In the mid-1990's our Midport Road location was targeted by developers and we began to receive purchase offers. After years of conversations and changes we closed on the sale to CVS Pharmacy in June 2003. We broke ground in November 2003 and began construction in April 2004 on the building we designed, adequate for the ministry we envisioned. For three years we worshipped in a storefront location on Morningside Drive. A certificate of occupancy was finally granted for the new building in December 2005 and we began worshipping in our beautiful new building on December 18th. The building was formally dedicated on January 8, 2006.
Our 12,000 sq. ft. building includes a sanctuary which combines classic architecture, the beauty of stained glass, and a bright and uplifting atmosphere. The spacious Fellowship Hall with full commercial kitchen hostsScouts and our own fellowship and service events. The classrooms, nursery and cry room accommodate youth of all ages.
We have always been a church which values quality experiences for our members and their service as volunteers in the community.
